The University of Burgos is a public university, recognized as one of the best in Spain for its research efforts. The University of Burgos rises to fourth place within the Spanish university system according to the U-Ranking 2024 published by the BBVA Foundation and the IVIE. Among the universities of Castilla y León, the Burgos institution once again ranks as the top university in the region in overall performance, teaching, research, and innovation. This ranking evaluates a total of 70 universities, including all public and 22 private institutions. It carries out its mission by providing comprehensive, high-quality education that is closely connected to students and focused on internationalization.

Approaching its 30th anniversary, it has already become a benchmark in Spanish university research and knowledge transfer to the business sector. It is a member of the European University RUN-EU, one of the exclusive 50 institutions on which the EU aims to build the European University System of the near future. Currently, the university offers 29 undergraduate degrees, 5 of which are available in both online and in-person formats, and 2 bilingual programs in English and Spanish. Additionally, it provides 7 double degrees, 30 master's programs, 14 doctoral programs, and 20 specialized certifications. This academic offering is primarily designed to enhance graduates' employability through internship agreements with the region’s strong business and industrial network, as well as international companies.

The university features a historic campus that is part of the Camino de Santiago, blending medieval buildings with cutting-edge facilities, modern laboratories and workshops, libraries, its own television and radio stations, and an extensive range of cultural and sports activities.
