ViReal4STEM Showcases the Power of Virtual Reality for Inspiring Girls in STEM at ICICTE 2026
The ViReal4STEM project was proudly presented at the International Conference on Information Communication Technologies in Education (ICICTE 2026), held in Rhodes, Greece, as part of the conference's European Projects Poster Session. The event brought together researchers, educators, and innovation leaders from across Europe to exchange ideas on the future of digital education and showcase pioneering initiatives that are transforming teaching and learning.
Representing Fundación Siglo22, Mariano Sanz Prieto and Rubén Vega Gutiérrez introduced the poster "ViReal4STEM: Envisioning a Future in STEM Through Virtual Reality, Empowering Girls to Explore, Create and Innovate." Alongside the poster presentation, conference participants were invited to experience the project's Virtual Reality application through an interactive demonstration, allowing them to discover firsthand how immersive technologies can create engaging and inclusive STEM learning experiences.

Throughout the session, attendees explored the VR environment developed within the project and discussed its educational potential with the project representatives. The demonstration generated considerable interest among teachers, researchers, and educational stakeholders, who highlighted the value of virtual reality as a tool for increasing girls' motivation, confidence, and participation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
ViReal4STEM aims to address the persistent gender gap in STEM by developing innovative educational resources that combine immersive technology with inclusive pedagogical approaches. Through virtual reality experiences, the project seeks to spark curiosity, encourage exploration, and help girls envision themselves pursuing future studies and careers in STEM-related fields.

The poster session also provided an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences with other European projects, establish new professional connections, and discuss how emerging technologies can contribute to more equitable and engaging educational environments.
Fundación Siglo22 is proud to have represented the ViReal4STEM project at ICICTE 2026 and to contribute to the growing conversation on how immersive technologies can support inclusion, innovation, and equal opportunities in education. The positive feedback received during the conference reinforces the project's mission to inspire the next generation of girls to explore, create, and innovate through STEM.
Moving Forward to Inspire the Next Generation of Girls in STEM.
